Master Resume Writing
As you develop a general career direction, you need a longer resume that speaks to the full spectrum of your skills and experience. With your Master Resume in hand, you can then adapt it for specific job applications.
“So much of career literature asks big questions that are beyond (for me anyway) timely answer. Your questions were open ended yet specific enough that I could reply. And we got a result in an hour. I’m still thinking about how I work.” —Client Name
Ready to look for a job but don’t know where to begin? I’ll help you use your time wisely and leverage technology to your advantage.
Job Search Coaching
In our one-on-one coaching sessions, we’ll identify your strengths, develop a clear job search strategy, and articulate your job goals. I’ll also teach you how to use job boards effectively and select position listings that are right for you.
More and more of my clients are winning jobs specifically because they learned to use LinkedIn effectively. They highlight their career accomplishments, keep in touch with their network, and connect with the best opportunities to move forward in a satisfying career.
If you struggle with how to talk about yourself online or the technical aspects of LinkedIn’s idiosyncrasies, I can help you leverage this tool in your job search. In a LinkedIn coaching session, we can:
- Optimize your Summary to reflect your top skills and direction.
- Align your skills with the keywords hiring managers search for.
- Receive targeted job announcements in your inbox.
- Draft requests for meaningful recommendations.
- Locate and join groups to strategically grow your network.
- Select a photo that conveys your personality and competence.
“You listened and interpreted my strengths and goals, and then you helped to form a rough draft profile outline that reflects both my passions as well as my skill set.” —Client Name
Resumes and cover letters have one clear job: to win you an interview. We’ll craft a resume and cover letter that make employers want to meet you — and when they do, we’ll make sure that you’re prepared to interview with confidence.
Tailored Resume Writing
A Tailored Resume is written and edited for a specific job posting; it can also be adapted for LinkedIn. Whereas a Master Resume covers the breadth of your experience, a Tailored Resume is concerned with depth — demonstrating how your expertise connects with the individual demands of a specific employer and position.
Cover Letter Writing
Cover letters are often overlooked, but they are a crucial first opportunity to both distinguish you as a match for the position and demonstrate how you can address their needs. Whether you’re preparing to send a resume to a hiring manager or applying to a position you found on a job board, we’ll create compelling stories of success that show you at your best.
Resume & Cover Letter Review
In a review, I provide feedback and suggestions on your current resume and cover letter, based on a target job title or postings, and you make the revisions yourself. If you have strong writing skills and plan to update your resume yourself but want an expert to direct your efforts, we’ll collaborate and make sure your resume rises above the rest.
I’ll help you create interview answers that use language to convey your strengths and maximize your chances of receiving a job offer. You will become confident and effective because we’ll help you craft answers that are true and “play well.”
We’ll design your strategy and identify vivid stories that illustrate your strengths, and then we’ll practice your delivery until it feels natural. You will leave with increased confidence so you can nail common questions such as:
- Why are you interested in this position?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Where do you expect to be in three years?
- Describe a time that you were part of a team and your role as a team member.
- Describe a conflict you had on a job and how you resolved it.
- What have been your most important accomplishments?
- What are your strengths? Give an example of your strengths in action.
- What are your weaknesses?
- Why should we hire you?
“I loved working with Ursala. The process is not rushed, she is friendly and patient. She is very knowledgeable about the things that should/should not go on a resume and she avoids using generic terms. She listens carefully and takes time to really highlight skills and abilities to the point. I am more confident when I present my resume to potential employers now. I’m glad I chose to go this route.” —Rasheeda K. Webber
